✅ Make sure the video quality is set to Full HD (1080p).This test sometimes helps with catching problems with the mic. I test for 30-45 seconds, watch the recording and if everything looks fine, I'm good to go. My test live stream consists of: mic check, video check, headphone check, and screen sharing check. My live streaming software, Restream, has an option to live stream without broadcasting to any channel (I broadcast to Youtube, Linkedin and Facebook). ✅ Do a test live stream 15 minutes before going live. It's a 2-in-1 app that provides me the streaming technology as well as the studio software in which I produce my live shows. I use Restream.io to multistream to Youtube, Linkedin and Facebook. If that doesn't work, I switch to backup internet on my phone. If that doesn't work, and I still have the time before going live, I will reset my router. If that does not work, I reboot and test my internet speed again. If wifi does not work, I turn wifi off and on again that usually does the trick. Unfortunately, sometimes when Windows updates itself, my wifi stops working (it's a known bug which I only found out about recently, after Windows ruined at least three of my live shows). This is a major, major thing: go to Settings -> Update & Security and make sure Change active hours is set at some time that is *not* the time when you go live. So, for the time being, I'm only blocking Google Drive, the most likely app to steal my internet bandwidth. I do not want any apps to use the internet while I live stream, but I still haven't gotten around to finding one tool to cut access to all apps on my Windows machine. If he uploads anything to Google Drive - and we use Google Drive all the time - the Google Drive for Windows app automatically syncs those changes to my Windows machine. I don't want those devices to decide to download something in the background. If you work in an office, this may not be an option because other people may need access to the internet, but I do take my phone and my tablet off the internet. ✅ Block devices (phones, tablets, computers.) from accessing the internet. Surprisingly, live streaming over 4G did not suck. I had to live stream with it once when my ISP was down nationwide for an entire day.
